Duties of Office:

Producing of the County's Real Estate tax books, assessing new construction between general reassessments, maintaining assessment records, annual processing of Virginia Income Tax returns, annual processing of Virginia Estimated Income Tax Returns, completing Virginia Income Tax Returns for any Individual that requires assistance, working in conjunction with the Building Inspector's office, Clerk of Circuit Court and the Treasurer's Office, administering the County's coal/gas Severance Tax, administering the County's "Tax Relief for the Elderly" program, Veteran's Exemption for Real Estate, updating Real Estate Tax Records when land is purchased or sold, processing of bank franchise taxes, and publishing of state corporation tax rolls
